As a co-founder of Bay Development, Steven Kay oversees all company transactions. With over 35 years in acquisitions of improved and unimproved real estate, obtaining entitlements, development of single family homes, multi-family units and the operation and management of office buildings, multifamily buildings and single tenant buildings throughout his career.
Mr.Kay is also a founding member of San Francisco-based law firm, Kay & Merkle, LLP, an eight-member firm specializing in real estate, business transactions, sports matters and estate planning. Sharing an office with former Mayor of San Francisco Willie L. Brown Jr., together, they represent clients throughout the state of California in a myriad of matters including gaming and transportation.
In addition to serving as President and majority owner of Golden Gate Global—the leading EB-5 Immigrant Investment Regional Center in the San Francisco/Bay Area—he has been a guest lecturer for the Practicing Law Institute (PLI), has been involved in many charitable organizations, and is an active member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, California State Bar Association, and American Bar Association.
Mr. Kay obtained his A.B. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1963 and his LL.B. from USF School of Law in 1966 with admission to the California Bar in 1966.
Additional Career Highlights:
-Represented the San Francisco 49ers from 1985 to 1997, as well as several other notable industry clients, including Reggie Jackson, Bill Walsh, George Seifert and Mike Shanahan.
-Integrally involved in the formation of the 1997 Levi Stadium plan and stadium bond issue, as well as land use issues involving permits, public hearings, leases, licenses, environmental compliance and financing.
-Represents Lennar Urban regarding their participation in the Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point developments in San Francisco.
-Represented the New York Stock Exchange-listed Mills Corporation real estate trust in development activities throughout Northern California.
-Assisted in the formation and representation of Another Planet Entertainment (Outside Lands, Fox Theatre Oakland and Greek Theatre).
