Clyde Sotomey

VP Acquisitions & Development

As the VP of Acquisitions & Development for Bay Communities, Mr. Sotomey has an in depth knowledge of Ghana’s political system, often working with senior Ghanaian government officials to get the necessary approvals for various stages of Bay Communities projects.

An accomplished professional with extensive experience in executive management, process optimization, operations and government/client relations; he possesses over 25 years of management and principal-oriented hotel/hospitality experience, including nine years at Carol Management/Doral Hotels and Resorts, a leading NYC-based real estate development and hotel company with a portfolio of luxury and upscale hotels throughout the Northeast United States and Florida.

Prior to joining Bay Development, Clyde served in key management positions at the Claremont Resort and Spa, in Berkeley and at The Parc in Oakland. He was also the sole proprietor of award-winning facility ‘the Oaktree’, a 20,000 sqft facility that housed a 200 seat fine-dining restaurant, a cyber lounge, euro-deli, entertainment and banquet facilities in Oakland’s Jack London Square.

In addition, Clyde serves as a guest lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, focusing on key issues such as ‘identifying and selecting business opportunities in emerging markets in Sub-Saharan Africa’ and ‘identifying challenges in doing business in Africa’.

Additional Career Highlights:

-As the principal and owner of Oaktree, Clyde raised the entire project financing, oversaw the project conceptualization and development, and once opened; assessed community needs and developed strategies to optimize sales.
